PRAISE and prayer for:
- Rev. Sunil Dandge, Field Strategy Coordinator for India shares, “On the first visit of General Superintendent Dr. Busic to India there were 12 ordinations (including 1 lady) in 3 different Assembly locations with powerful and clear exhortation to live an exemplary life of holiness and to minister faithfully in the Church of the Nazarene.” 6th May – 4 ordinations took place in Western Maharashtra District; 9th May – 2 Ordinations took place at Mid-Maharashtra District; 11th May, Delhi – 6 ordinations took place with ordinands from North West India and from Odisha.
- In April the Korea National District Church of the Nazarene held an Ordination Service, for which 36 ordinands (including 1 lady) had been patiently waiting. The waiting has been difficult, but worth the wait. They have experienced God’s grace even greater during this challenging time. As ordained ministers they are assured once again, that God was, is, and will be with them as they continue to fulfill the mission of making Christlike disciples in the nations. This special service was held during the 67th District Assembly and was the first gathering of the entire district after two years. It was also a special time that Dr. David Graves, Jurisdictional General Superintendent for Asia-Pacific to visit and be able to physically preside over the ordination service.
- the Church of the Nazarene Philippines is celebrating its 75th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary this year. The theme of the celebration is Rise Up and Go Philippines! Held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila on 8 May 22 and attended by over 3,000 Nazarenes, physically and online from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the celebration began with a three-part program. The service opened with a worship celebration of praise and thanksgiving, followed by the honouring and awarding of pioneer churches and members in the country, and culminated with an ordination service of 18 ministers.
All of the above ordinations included women in ministry.
PRAY for:
- the ongoing situation in Ukraine
- the Church of the Nazarene in Romania
- the churches responding to and in the midst of the Ukraine crisis.
- strength and resources for compassionate ministry workers serving marginalized groups: survivors of human trafficking, neglected children, those with special needs, the elderly, and the poor.
- Argentina – for the upcoming district and national events, which are intended to train and mobilize the church. Especially for “A lo Nuestro,” a national meeting of ministries to be held in June, and for the national “Maximum Mission” to be held in July.
- the usage of the 2017-2021 Manual of the Church of the Nazarene which is now available in Global English. The creation of an adaptation of the Manual into Global English was commissioned by the Board of General Superintendents as a result of the 2017 General Assembly approval of Resolution SR-753. The steering committee for the project included Nina Gunter, Gary Hartke, Jesse Middendorf, Christian Sarmiento, Jack Stone, David Wilson, and editor Scott Stargel.
The goal of adapting the Manual to Global English (a type of simplified English) is to incorporate language that is clearer and more engaging to a global audience, especially to non-native speakers of English. This Manual of the Church of the Nazarene can be used with confidence, although it is not the official Manual nor a replacement for it. The language is simple and yet carefully crafted to bring clarity to complex passages and will be an important contribution to translating into other languages, and conversations regarding the governance and polity of the Church of the Nazarene,” said General Secretary Gary Hartke
