Rev. Bryan Roller has served as a pastor and church planter in the Church of the Nazarene since 1977. He is a graduate of the University of Calgary, earning his B.Sc. degree in 1981. He later earned his Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City (1989). He has served in a variety of roles on both the District and local church levels, sitting on the Board of Ministry, the Home Mission Board, the Board of Kidztown International, conducting church planting seminars, and serving as a guest speaker at a variety of church and non-church related events.
He pastored the Nazarene Church in Drumheller, AB (1979-85) and served as Youth Pastor in Kansas City from 1985-89, while attending seminary. After graduating from seminary, Bryan and his wife Colleen moved back to Canada in order to launch a new Nazarene congregation in Northwest Calgary. Beginning with no people, the church (now known as Skyview Community Church) became a thriving and self-supporting congregation after only two years. Four years later (1996), they launched another new Nazarene congregation in Northwest Calgary, which continues to thrive to this day.
After pastoring Skyview Church for almost 19 years, Pastor Bryan accepted the Senior Pastor position at First Church of the Nazarene in 2008, where he retired from pastoral ministry in 2022. He currently serves as the Director of Church Planting for Canada West District Church of the Nazarene.
A hallmark of Pastor Bryan’s leadership style is bringing disparate people together, helping them find common ground, and encouraging them to work together harmoniously for the greater good and for the glory of God. He sees himself as a unifier and encourages others to pursue peace, understanding, forgiveness and reconciliation.
Bryan enjoys reading, running, and staying fit. He is also an accomplished guitarist, and enjoys ballroom dancing with his wife Colleen, to whom he has been happily married for over 43 years. They have two adult children and one ten-year-old grandson.
